When We Partner Together, We Can Do So Much More!
-
Is there a screening process for your volunteers and staff?Yes. We are dedicated to providing safe environments for kids with loving, caring adults. Each of our volunteers and staff members have passed a comprehensive background check, which is renewed every two years. We require all volunteers to participate in orientation and an online child safety training course.
-
What safety measures do you have in place?Children are our most precious gifts and we are committed to maintaining an environment that is physically, emotionally and spiritually safe for all children! We use KidCheck to register and check-in all children, families and volunteers during our Sunday morning services. You can check in either in-person or from your mobile phone with the KidCheck app. Your child will receive a nametag with an alphanumeric code which matches the code on the guardian tag you receive. A PowerHouse team member will verify the number on the child’s name tag matches the guardian pick-up tag. If you misplace your pickup slip, we require you to return to our check-in desk and show identification to receive a replacement slip. During PowerHouse service times, only approved PowerHouse volunteers and staff have access to the children’s ministry space. Our Greeting team members are stationed at our welcome desk throughout each service. Our team sanitizes before services, between services, and after each service to keep our children safe from the germs.
-
What if my child needs me during the service? We use KidCheck for our check-in process. The mobile phone number on your account will be messaged directly if your child needs you. If you do not respond to our message after 5 minutes, we will send a volunteer to locate you. Remember to bring your parent pick-up tag with you to be able to enter our ministry space during service and visit your child.
-
Can my child with special needs attend PowerHouse?YES! It is our desire to be inclusive and to do our very best to accommodate all kids and families. After we meet and discuss your child's needs, we will match your child with a “Friend2Friend” volunteer to give them the best experience possible. Please contact us at 301.355.6550 (extension 217) or email brooke@senecacreek.org.
-
Do you provide snacks? At this time, we are not distributing snacks in Powerhouse. Please DO NOT bring treats or drinks from home. We are a nut-free Children’s Ministry.
-
What if my child has an allergy?Powerhouse is an allergy friendly environment. Please note any allergies your child has on the family registration form. This information will be noted on their check-in tag at every service, and we will provide adequate notice if any of our crafts and activities use items that could cause concern (ie, playdoh, dry spaghetti). As a nut-free ministry, we do not allow any peanut or tree-nut products and will never use them in our activities. Please let your small group leader know at check-in if your child requires an epi-pen, and please leave an epi-pen with them while they are in the Powerhosue space.
-
Can my child participate in Baptism at Seneca Creek? We want all of our kids to remember this special day as they share their faith in joining the greatest team ever—God’s team! Because of the important decision baptism is and the symbolic expression of a child asking Jesus to be their friend forever as it relates to baptism, we ask that kids are currently attending 3rd grade or above to participate in kid’s baptism classes. Typically, our baptism celebrations are scheduled twice a year beginning in the fall.
-
What is Child Dedication? You will have the greatest influence in your child’s life. Our church wants to come alongside you, encourage you and support you at every phase in raising your child to know, love and follow Jesus. The child dedication ceremony is much more about you, the parent, than it is about your child. You will stand before family and friends and publicly promise to God to do everything in your power to raise up a godly, faith-walking child. Typically, our child dedication ceremonies are scheduled twice a year beginning in the late fall. Watch for sign-ups.
-
What curriculum do you use in the children's ministry? We use the ORANGE curriculum on Sunday mornings. Learn more about Discovery Zone for our preschool classrooms (birth - pre-K) and Club 252 for elementary students in kindergarten - fourth grade. Fifth grade students are part of our special preteen ministry, Switch56.
-
What about VBS and activities outside of Sunday?Currently we do not offer regular activities outside of Sunday. However, we will continue to explore ideas that parallel with the mission, vision and values of our church.
